Laura and Darryl's Wedding in Cambridge
Posted on: 31 Jul 2010 by: D Stuart Photography
Laura and Darryl's wedding has taken place at the church of the Good Shepherd in Arbury, Cambridge, and at the local community centre. Its been a really nice day, these were nice venues and the wedding had great atmosphere and nice people. The light was a bit dull but we managed fine in the end and got some nice indoor and outdoor shots.
Laura commented; 'We have received the photo's and they are lovely.'

Today's wedding has been at the wonderful little church of St Edmunds, Hauxton, Cambridgeshire. The vicar was terrific and had a great sense of humour, which was helpful due to the large number number of children present! The wedding went very smoothly and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Following on from Georgie and Luke's wedding a few weeks ago, at the same church and with Georgie as a bridesmaid, today's wedding felt very familiar! Once again the weather has been lovely and with great venues at St Mary's Church, Swafham Bulbeck, Cambridgeshire, and The Hotel Felix, Cambridge. Sarah wore a truley spectacular dress and we got some nice shots at her parents house before the wedding.

Charity Run in London

I have had a very early start this morning to get to London for this mornings ASICS 10km charity run, in order to photograph the runners from The Cambridge University Press. There was an impressive parade by the army and some wonderful novelty costumes - I cant help but wonder how any one could have managed wearing these in this mornings heat. I did a before and after group photograph and tried to get some of the CUP runners in action- a real challenge finding and photographing them amongst an astonishing 25,000 runners. I got some of them.
Visit to The National Portrait Gallery

I have just returned from London where I have visited The National Portrait Gallery and an exhibition of graduate students photographic work at The A & D Gallery, London. This has been a fascinating trip - at The National Portrait gallery it was wonderful to see so many historic portraits such as Elizabeth I's coronation portrait and the famous portraits of Charles I and II. It was extremely interesting to see how these historic portrait paintings have influenced contemporary formal photographic portraiture, and to have the opportunity to see the best of both these types of work in the same gallery. It was great to see some famous modern pieces such as Marc Quinn's 'Blood Head', a portrait of his own head made from his own frozen blood, and Sam Taylor Wood's self portrait holding a stuffed hare. I also found Steve Mcqueen's work 'For Queen and Country' very thought provoking - it is a wooden cabinet containg sheets of stamps portraying British soldiers killed in The Afghan War. Seeing this piece really has great impact.
The A & D gallery off Baker street is a small gallery showcasing some superb work by photography students. I was especially impressed with the fashion portraits by Abigail Holt which were visually and technically stunning.

University Photography

I have been working today for Jet Photographic, Botolph lane, Cambridge. Jet specialises in university photography and we have all been very busy with graduation photographs. I have today been the official photographer for Trinity College Graduation parade, which started with the graduates lining up at Trinity College and then marching to Kings Parade. It was an impressive sight. Later I took graduation portraits at Queen's College and at the Jet studio off Trumpington Street.
